Four Days

Forty or so minutes from home is our lake.
Not our only lake, but our
beach umbrella,
sand tools scattered,
bare feet
and sandy-rumps lake.

Instead of a day's visit, this time we were stayin' a while.

The first afternoon was all about settling in for Eric and I while the children romped in the water.
Seein's how this was the very last first-day-of-school, we had not only the beach, but the entire campground to ourselves.
Something wonderful, that.

Our night was all about exclaiming "there's another one!" when we saw the bats,
fidgeting in a new bed,
and waking up in the middle of the night and seeing the stars directly above us.

Tuesday morning... the day Friends were coming up!

Before leaving home, we'd made plans with our local unschoolers....
rafts and boats and paddleboards were to be the day's play!

An afternoon storm blew in (and blew many of our friends home)
but after a bit more tumult,
a lovely evening was spent with different friends...
visiting and watching bats and grilling.

Our next day was yet again a different kind... gray and drizzly.

And lovely.

And our final morning dawns bright and cheery...

...with a beach morning meditation for Mama.

Daddy takes her a morning cuppa....

A day on the sand,
then packing up.....

....and we're for Home.
It's a goodly sort of life.

  1. i love the end-of-the-summer camping. beautiful pictures, and i'm sighing at maddy's ten-year-old face. happy happy.

  2. So nice to see you, SlimD!
I'm glad to be back to blogging... so I can spend time here, and check up on your beautiful girls! ♥

  3. Mmm, beautiful. We're camping at our local state park for our own not-back-to-school celebration tomorrow. I suspect we'll have the place to ourselves. <3
