Tuesday

I get so excited about playing with my children.  And thinking about playing with my children.  It's like the Peep song.  Which is our family theme song....

"Well, it's a sunny day
I feel brand new
There's about a million things
That I could do!
Whoa-oh-oh
Would you like to
Do them, too?
Yeah
Well, it's a big wide world
And it's waiting for me and you!

Let's look around
What will we see?
Round every corner, a discovery!
Whoa-oh-oh
There's no place I'd rather be!
Oh, yeah
Well, it's a big wide world
And it's waiting for me and you!"

Let's bake something pink!  Let's find a festival!  Create a piece of stained glass!  Learn about some place new!  Photograph a bird, and paint it!  Go hunt for salamanders!

This day we had plans already made.... this afternoon to the Big City Library for adventuring and an art program for Madeleine, then to dinner at daddy's work, then back to the library for Science Movie Night, to see and attend a discussion on The Secret Life of Bees for Trevelyn and I.
Wonderful!

Except that upon checking out what was going on downtown at the Planeterium, we found this.

...and both of them said "Yes!!!"
Okay.... so we could go early, explore the planetarium, see the film, and then jet over to the library hopefully still in time to attend the Art class!  That will work.
Except that a neighbor showed up at our door, needing a favor, and that took a while to take care of.  Which got me home at just-enough-time to get to the planetarium to see the film.
So we'd have to play afterward....

So we missed the art class (sigh, but there will be another next week), but we can take Maddie home to Daddy -he'll be home, soon-, have supper, and get back to the library for Science Movie Night!  Except that we got home, and Maddie didn't want us to leave, and soon Trevelyn and I lost our enthusiasm for leaving the house, again.
And so it was that we watched The Secret Life of Bees in bed.

Kind of an 'off' day.  I'm not usually married to expectations (we're unschoolers, after all), but being a bit disappointed in missing two things I had been looking forward to left me feeling a bit lackluster and hmmphing.

But!..... the good thing is we always have the next day!....

"Well, it's a sunny day
I feel brand new
There's about a million things
That I could do!....."

  1. The Peep Theme Song is a family favorite here too! I love when our life comes through so completely perfectly in a song! xo
