the children love this, and I do, too.
I get out a tray for each of them, and we get test tubes and racks,
and I fill beakers and pots...
salt, baking soda, ammonia, lemon juice, vinegar, citric acid, soap, oil, milk, water, corn starch, food coloring, alcohol...
jelly marbles, solid powder, snow powder...
goldenrod paper (acid/base indicator)....
spoons, sticks, droppers, syringes, glass test tubes....
and they play.
and they observe.  and mix, and shake, and wow themselves--and each other, and me.  :)

research

  1. Love your 'chemistry' supplies. One day I'll invest in some good ones, 'til then, we've got a few sort of plastic-y, cheap kits. They'll do for now, methinks. :)

    Great day--love it all!

  3. I loved loved loved Chemistry when I was in highschool.....one of the only things I liked about school back then. Kiah received a chemistry set for her birthday over a year ago, and wouldn't you know I can't find it anywhere. I'm sure we'll come across it in the move.

Looks and sounds like another fabulously full day at your place. I always enjoy stopping by.

  4. Hey! We've been doing chemistry experiments just like that - preschool style. My kids love mixing "ingredients" - always baking soda and vinegar, but my son adds extra stuff. Last week we made the best wizard's brew... I'll post about it for Saturday's Artist, because it turned into art. So cool to see a mirror of our activities! We've got to get some food colouring... You are an awesome mom. Just thought I'd add that.
