Going West

Yesterday shortly after I woke up, I realized that I was needing something very particular... something dusty and golden-hilled... something like log cabins and sagebrush and calico bonnets.
An immersion, if you will.
Since it was family day, I asked my three, and they all said Yes, so off we went.

This is a village of historical buildings from all over our state.  How lovely to have them in one place, and the village filled with artisans and simple folk.
And how lucky we are to have such a place to visit in our city.

 barber shop

 the bank

the blacksmith

the saddlery

pot-bellied pigs.  yum.  i'm pretty sure the children are working on their dad to get me one.

more sweeping, and rug beating, and welcoming trains and visitors to town...

There.  That outta do it for a little while.

  1. That looks like a lovely place to visit. Love the saddlery and barber shop.
We have a place like that near us, which has structures from all over Wales - no panning for gold or log cabins though ;-)

  2. What a fun day- you are truly blessed to live where you do, thanks for sharing!

  3. Oh fun I love the wonderful places you have to visit!!!

  4. As if I didn't already know we were soul sisters... after our Saint died I researched pot bellied pigs. Unfortunately I couldn't find one for us. Someday...
This place looks great. Thanks for sharing :)

  5. Yes, I would crave that place, too. I needed a getaway and found one over the weekend. Sometimes your heart needs what it needs.

  6. wow! we had a very similar weekend. there was a heritage festival saturday and sunday with pretty much everything you have photos of here. about a month ago my youngest son very suddenly and inexplicably became intensely interested in blacksmithing, metalurgy, gold panning. the festival this past weekend was such a treat. we all loved being transported back to a simpler way of life.

  7. Awesome! You really are so very fortunate to have so much cool stuff within your "reach." :)

  8. You totally need the pig!

  9. Awww! I was just in SLC last week, and had no idea this was there! Next time I'm there, I'm definitely taking the kiddos! :)

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
