life on monday : sovereignty

there are so many things i'm grateful for in this life with my family.
my husband and babies are first on the list, of course.
our home. the land immediately surrounding us. the city in which we live.
the thousands of resources in and around our home.
the whole wide world! i'm thankful for the whole big, wide, wonderful world.

i'm thankful that life on mondays can be fancy, or not, as it happens.
that it cannot matter to anyone but us.
i'm thankful for ideas.

i'm thankful for favorite lunch places

and i'm thankful for dollar movies.
and 3d glasses

i'm thankful that we are free to visit a petstore.
because we want to.

i'm thankful that we've found our long lost friend Bill Nye. we've missed him so. (his videos were taken off youtube.)

i'm grateful for National Geographic videos.

and for Mark Twain documentaries,

and youtube videos.

can one be thankful for sovereignty?
sovereignty isn't something anyone can grant you, to my mind,
it is something you must feel,
and own for yourself.

it is being empowered, i think.
and no one can grant you that...

i'm glad -grateful?- that it is something my children
are learning to lay claim to, as well.

that will do.

  1. Fun! How as Tangled? We've not seen it yet - and I guess it's not going to play in our small town...we'll get it on dvd though...

  2. The kiddos and I just watched an interesting video on ants. I found it on hulu. They were enthralled. Thanks for the link to Bill Nye's videos. We usually get them from the library.

  3. I loved it.
I think I got teary (or out-and-out cried) like seven times. :)

  4. Thanks for the NYE link - we love Bill!

And yes, sovereignty is a precious gift worthy of gratitude, it's glorious...

  5. Thank you so much for the Nye link! The girls and I read about pollination today and his video (plants part 1) ties into our study perfectly! I searched and searched youtube this morning and could not find anything worthwhile.

  6. You certainly are a very thankful person. :) I'm thankful for your blog, which centers me every time I read it.

(Oh and the reason for the new hs blog is because the other one was taken over my spam pirates and did weird things to all things having to do with Wake Up Start Learning. Thus, a fresh start. For which I am thankful.)

  7. Bill Nye ROCKS!

    And, so do you :)

    Thanks for the link!!

  8. Just to let you know I am offering a raffle to help Japan. You are more than welcome to participate.

  9. Many thanks for the Bill link. We are huge Nye fans here.

  10. Hi,
I discovered your blog a few weeks ago and I wanted to let you know that I love it!

  11. Thanks so much, Bea, that is very nice to hear!

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
