interruption: techie help

hi friends... er, especially friends with Techie husbands....

I need help!

My laptop internet is skiwampus.

I have a router, and have two desktops plugged into it, and am having no problems with them.

I have redone my laptop, and am still having internet trouble.

It started about a week ago... I assumed it was drivers that I needed from an overnight windows update. But I've redone windows, and updated all my drivers.

I read that if it's your wireless card, you'll get a connection for a few minutes, but then it will cut out after five minutes or so.

But if I'm in the same room as my router, or on either patio (both are near the router), then I have no problems being disconnected, even after extended periods of time.
In the kitchen I get interrupted often (about twenty feet from router) and in the livingroom I can hardly get service at all.

Can anyone help me?
I don't believe my linksys router has channels, and I've reset my router and modem a few times... it doesn't help. (I've powered off and reset.) The wlan light on the router says it's on.

My laptop is exactly two years old, and I didn't have a problem until all-of-a-sudden a week ago.
I don't know if interference is possible, as I'm not getting many other of the usual "connections" show up in "connect to a network".
We don't have cordless phones, satellite, or a microwave.

I'm willing to replace either my card or router, but would hate to guess the wrong one and not be able to take it back, or in the case of a router, reprogram my laptop and desktops, and have that not be it.

Anyone know anything about wlan cards that go bad??? What the symptoms are?

well, it's a good thing the babes were out of bed this morning before 7:30 (a rarity), because we had Things To Do!

Trev made our plans today, of course.

loaded beach bag :)

first thing we had to go get a new pool.
while ours was technically still working, it was barely limping along (one chamber had a slow leak that we couldn't find, and then a couple of days ago the bottom got a very large -seven inch or so- tear), it would have taken quite a trick to fix it.
so off to the store!and then home again home again to pump it up and get it heating under a hot sun.
while waiting for that, Trevelyn and his mama went over to pick up his #1 Birthday Present...

a stop off at our favorite meat market for some barbecue deli-ci-oso-ness...

and another stop to take care of business (a serious larvae problem is going on in our pond) via a couple of beautiful goldfish -named Harold and Maude- :) (Mama named them, with permission)

summertime rolls

oh, goodness.
we're back.
(I finally just wiped out my laptop and started over clean again. something we do around here every year or two. irritating work, but tis nice to have a shiny computer again.)

our days seem to be one celebration of summer after another.the children have been welcoming it with arms thrown wide and much enthusiasm... all new to us since the rains have finally stopped.

all of a sudden it's truly summer,

the gardens have changed their colors and blossoms from the freshness and surprise of Spring to Summer glory,

the days are long and lazy...

we're living and breathing Summertime.

the mama has been feeling a bit disconnected from The Usual Grand Adventures, as i've been occupied with computers and cameras,

but that all changes now.

we're back...
and now we're off!

It's Little Son's birthday tomorrow, and today is the day of the Family Celebration.
('tis best to have two or three days for one's Birthday Celebration, don't you agree?)

Lots and lots of fun planned for today.
We'll see you tonight!

oh, friends...
i'm on day six of computer problems. (no viruses)
wireless is funky, windows is funky, redoing windows, drivers, deep cleaning, updates, etc, etc....
so that's what. :/
not ignoring friends, just trying to get this figured out.
hopefully i'll be back in the swing of things soon.

two days: welcome to summer

Our day yesterday started with cousins and cuddles.

And giving the youngest one his first lecture on How To Appreciate Dinosaurs.

And there was pool scrubbin'

and play plannin'

and then the rest of the day was spent madly preparing for our Earth Scouts meeting, and for a celebration!

We finally welcomed glorious Summer officially.
