december two-three

We have listened to Humpback Whales.
And other whale-ish creatures.

We've read.
And read, and read, and read.

Played with Zoobs.

And Toobers and Zots.

Made Peppermint Bark.

I can't right now, Mom... I'm in the zone."
"What zone?"
"You know how you tell me that if I really want something, it's best to imagine that it's already happened? To picture it in my mind the way I want things?"
"Aaah... playing your DS?"

There has been the reading of A Mathematician's Lament by Paul Lockhart. Thanks, Sarah.

"What's a worksheet?" asks Little Son.

(The game, not the movie.)

"Does Annabelle know she's a dog?" asks Madeleine.

Button Soup.

"I wonder if we're going into outer space, soon." Madeleine.

Peep videos.

I, Carly.

Finally Daddy gets home,
and we packed up the snow gear and Button Soup
(which looked remarkably similar to potato-cheese soup, by the way),
hot chocolate, and sleds
and headed to the park for a little nighttime snow play.

And it was super fun.

We topped that off with a drive down Christmas Street
- which was beautiful and fabulous
and snowy
and bright.

Life is good,
and we're so good...
and hoping the next twenty-seven hours pass very quickly. :)

Wishing You and Yours all things merry and bright tomorrow, friends.
Happy Christmas Eve.

  1. And Happy Christmas Eve to you! :)

  2. Merry Christmas to you! Love the comment about son being "in the zone" and your daughter asking if Annabelle knows she's a dog. :)

  3. I'll just ditto MamaTea. :) Those two comments made me smile also.

Let me know how you like the lament. It's looong, but interesting.

  4. Merry Christmas to you and your lovely family...

    Jessica xoxo

  5. Happy Happy days to you!

    Ley the magical mayhem begin!

  6. Have a very merry Christmas Stephanie!

  7. Ohhhh, I've only started the lament and already my heart is saying "yeah, I KNOW" and my mind is saying, "but ohhhhhhh, now what?"
would love to overhear discussion about this piece.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
