"Can I have a doughnut?"
She asked. Again. "Madd, you can't just have doughnuts 'til the cows come home."
She thought about that for a minute.
"But cows can't jump over our fence. Only horses can. But if Daddy opened the gate..."

A couple of hours later we got back from checking on Trevelyn and playing on the neighobrhood playground.
"Mom, can I have a doughnut?"
I handed her the other half of one from earlier, "Sure," I said.
"Thanks. Are the horses home?"
